Popular Wood Types Used For Our Projects
Only Top Quality Wood Products Are Used By Cabinet Innovations
A quality product begins with quality materials. Cabinet Innovations uses materials from Columbia Forest Products, Weyerhauser Forest Products and Georgia Pacific, and most of the lumber comes from the Pacific Northwest, Wisconsin and Michigan.
The standard drawer box material is 1/2" Baltic birch plywood from Russia. That's the only imported product that is used because in our opinion, it is the best and strongest. The only product that is better (and more expensive) is solid wood dovetail drawer boxes.
Popular types of wood used by Cabinet Innovations
- Hickory. Hickory is a wood with a lot of character and handles a lot of abuse. Perfect for kitchens!
- Cherry. Another popular wood is cherry. Cherry is a classic wood but can be more expensive.
- Maple. Maple is another popular choice that is a beautiful, light colored hardwood.
- Red Oak. Red oak is always a good, inexpensive choice.
- Birch. Birch is a great wood with either a natural finish or stained and offers a variety of finishing options.
- Knotty Alder. Knotty alder is a cheaper version of cherry that can be finished in many different colors.
- Knotty Pine. Knotty pine is a favorite for bars and kitchens that need to have the "log cabin" or rustic look.
- Walnut. A dark and dense wood, it is perfect for the Victorian feel.
We can always build cabinets to be painted, but caution customers that finishing paint-grade cabinets can be more costly than the standard stain and lacquer process.
